DENYS KRYACHKO is spending his junior year as an exchange student at Portage High School.  He was born in Crimea and now lives with his parents in Chernivtsi in western Ukraine.  His father is manager of an auto parts company, and his mother is an artisan who creates handmade crafts from wood.  Denys came to the USA in August 2017 and will return home next May to complete his secondary education before going to university to study journalism.

Denys told us about the culture, history, and language of his homeland.  He presented a short self-made video about his hometown.  An array of Ukrainian foods – dumplings, sausage, cookies, candy – was shared with the large audience who came to the event.
