 The Welcome Mat is a fair trade home goods store operated out of the VIC. The Welcome Mat brings socially and environmentally sustainable products from Peru, Thailand, Kenya, India, Mexico, Vietnam, Indonesia, and many more here to Northwest Indiana! Why do we care about fair trade? “Fair trade” prevents abuse or manipulation of the  artisan, ensures that the artisan that crafted the good is paid fair and livable wages, and the items are socially and environmentally sustainable. This boosts the artisan’s local economy and promotes sustainable living. Even the smallest purchase can make a big difference in the lives of our neighbors abroad.
